MISTAKE #1
Investing in Equipment rather than SKILLS
This is probably the # 1 mistake that beginner level photographers make.
They think that having the best and latest camera or lens will make them a better photographer.
Completely WRONG.
It is learning the skills of Photography, knowing the concepts and how to implement them, which will make you an expert photographer.
Most beginners end up purchasing new cameras and then wonder why they are not getting better photos.
If you know & understand the fundamentals of photography, you can make amazing photos with ANY camera.
When I started my photography journey I resisted the idea of investing in my learning & thought that I will figure it out on my own!
Huge MISTAKE
I ended up purchasing lots of expensive equipment, but did not know how to use it.
It is only after I became an expert, I realised that if I had invested in learning the concepts of Photography, I would have saved so much unnecessary expenses on equipment.
MISTAKE #2
Not Following A Structured Approach
When I began my photography journey I had no structured approach, I was a solo learner.
I learnt in bits & pieces, watched YouTube videos, started reading books & multiple blogs, but it consumed so much of my time & energy.
It took me 4-5 years to master photography by trying, testing & failing before I started learning from my errors,
Whereas if I had a mentor to show me a structured path I would have learnt the same skills in 3-4 months.
So, basically it cost me enormous amount of time, Thousands of dollars, and lots of lost opportunities, only because of ONE reason...
...that I didn’t follow any structured approach.
The #1 Advice that I would give to myself 14 years ago will be
Time is MORE Valuable than Money
You will start taking AMAZING photos and make much more MONEY by investing in your SKILLS initially

Not understanding the Power of Editing
I have noticed that most photographers who are just starting out ...
have no idea of the significance of good editing, They don't understand the Power of Editing at all.
The skill of editing is one of the most powerful tool in Photography.
It helps you create a UNIQUE style for yourself, It DIFFERENTIATES your work from other's.
If you don't know how to do polished editing, you have already LOST your chance to be a good photographer.
